Blogging has been an important part of our business and our relationships with clients, colleagues, friends, and family for a couple of years now, and we realized that there was really no reason to continue to use a traditional gallery-based website as our main site. With this in mind, we've combined the best of both worlds. We are thrilled with the opportunity to continue relationship building with those of you who are connected to us through our blog. We want you to get to know us. We'll be sharing our recent sessions and weddings, family fun times, and industry excitement. Whether you're a potential client, a current client, a photographer, a friend, or family, this is the place to come for news and the latest pictures from Holritz Photography and the Holritz family! We also want to get to know you, so leave us comments and let us know you've stopped by.

Site navigation is simple. You can either click on the links across the top of the site, or you can rollover the images of us above.

For those of you who want to reminisce a little and see old blog posts, you can still see our old blog here .

OK, formalities are out of the way, now sit back, relax, and enjoy hanging out with us for a while!

Laughter... oh, and some pictures: Robert & Rebecca!
Monday, January 05, 2009

It's really easy for photographers, including myself, to photograph an engagement session by projecting our artistic preferences  on the session, rather than just photographing the couple for who they are.

The beauty of photographing Robert and Rebecca was that photographing who they were was just came naturally!  I couldn't help it!  Robert and Rebecca are laughter!  They simply enjoy life, and enjoy each other.  So rather than trying to set up a bunch of images, I let Robert and Rebecca laugh, goof around, fake pose for cheesy pictures, and laugh some more, and all I had to do was shoot!

Congratulations to the two of you on your engagement and upcoming wedding!  I'm looking forward to it!

What a cool location, and who would have guessed it was just off the side of the road!

Robert and Rebecca set this shot up!  How funny are they?!

Rebecca wore the coolest green jacket and shoes!

A quiet moment at an old, vacant home. Did I say moment? I meant second...

Back to the laughter!

You can't have too many images of the shoes!

A specialty of Robert and Rebecca's: making fun of cheesy posed pictures!

My attempt to set up a shot turned into dancing.  It was a better idea anyway!

Another demonstration of cheesy posing...

...and the resulting laughter!

We set up one formal pose for family, and when I said I was done, the two started a quiet interaction that was so cool to capture!

Rebecca gets shy when Robert starts talking sweet to her.  I love how this image captures the moment!

The seriousness could only last so long...

Robert surprised Rebecca by beginning to dance.

Self portraits!  The best!

moms with cameras WORKSHOP... round two!
Monday, January 05, 2009

It's time for the second official moms with cameras WORKSHOP.

This upcoming February 7th, an awesome group of women (and any men brave enough to join us) will gather at my home for a lot of learning, LOADS of laughter, and awesome relationship building.

Are you wondering how to take better pictures of your kids at home? Already good with a camera, but want to better understand the technical parts? I'd love to spend the day teaching you the basics, and maybe even throw in a few advanced tips. This is a course mainly for beginners, but would also be beneficial to those wanting a basic refresher.  I would prefer that you own a digital SLR (a camera with interchangeable lenses) but will accept any one who wants to learn. The class will cater towards those who use SLRs.

We'll have class from 10-12, break for a group lunch (included in registration), and return for more learning from 1-4.

Topics we'll cover are

        -Camera Basics

        -Rules of Composition and Exposure

        -Capturing Moments

        -Live mini shoot

        -Q&A

        -Mini-mentoring sessions

I know, I know, all you really want to be told is the price... and I think I've been able to do this fairly reasonably for you guys. Early bird rate is due to be paid in full by January 24th, and will be a mere $199! After January 24th, the price will go up a bit to $250.

You can sign up by clicking the button below. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at amber@holritzphotography.com.

Excited to see you all there!

(oh, and here's some feedback from the first workshop!

Katie said "You rock! Totally impressed with your "winging it" ability, and I learned a ton! Sally, Gregsby and I all had very happy spirirts after we left because we were so excited. Thank you!!"

Jewel said "I want to take this opportunity to thank you again for Sat. I feel sooooo blessed to have been there. I can't wait to try my hand at some of the things I learned - which was everything since it was all new!! You made it so informative but so fun as well.

I've been able to talk to two ladies already who were not able to go; but after hearing how awesome it was, really want to do it the next time you offer that class. So keep us posted...

I also just want to add that you are a very gifted and beautiful lady and I truly enjoyed hanging out with you Sat.!
